Lotus Enterprise believes that one of the best ways to build community is through collective action. We have organized a collective action opportunity to create a stronger path to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our petition serves as our collective action opportunity, and the Year 1 Goal is to secure 2,500 signatures nationwide. We created the Lotus Enterprise - Global Community Initiative (GCI) to centralize our petition and use it as a tool for relationship-building, community education, and social policy. This initiative takes the core Lotus Enterprise audience and provides a structured pathway to awareness, dialogue, and empowerment through public campaigns, social enterprise, and policy advocacy.
University professors, students, and administrators are the main sources of insights and information on issues relevant to our core audience: people with disabilities, individuals impacted by the legal system, and college and university students, correctional, probation officers, police officers, lawyers, and judges, and court administrators, US military veterans, those with history of childhood trauma, abuse, and neglect or people in recovery. As a result, GCI content covers the following areas of collegiate studies: disability, criminal justice, student life, veteran affairs, and social work.
Issues, solutions, and ideas are highlighted through research conducted by professors across the country. They are then memorialized on the GCI page and used to build momentum for discussing differing perspectives and approaches to social problems. Our Year 1 Goal is 25 professors across 25 campuses. We then seek to engage at least 100 students on each campus to reach our 2,500 signature goal.
