At Lotus Enterprise, we developed a hybrid approach that combines adult learning theory with experiential learning, coaching psychology, and digital learning design. We believe this gives us the best chance to engage, mobilize, and build community amongst millennials in the United States and abroad.

We start with purpose, not content. We link lessons to identity, goals, and social meaning. Techniques include vision mapping, role-based scenarios, and mission-driven assignments.

We place value on connection, belonging, and shared learning. We utilize group problem-solving, partner learning, small-group activities, and community challenges. Techniques include peer coaching, cohort-based learning, and small-group discussions.

We strive to serve as guides, mentors, and coaches, rather than authoritative lecturers. We focus on asking powerful questions, promoting self-discovery, and providing feedback loops. Techniques include growth mindset feedback, reflective journaling, 1:1 Coaching.

We believe we learn best by doing, not merely listening. We utilize real-world case scenarios, simulations, role-playing exercises, and projects that address actual problems. Techniques include practicums, service learning, hackathons, and applied assignments.

We use the internet and social media to learn through multimodal input. We use videos, podcasts, digital whiteboards, and apps for reflection and behavior tracking. We also aim to gamify certain aspects of the learning experience. Techniques include microlearning videos, interactive apps, and digital badges.

We also place value on emotional health, inclusion, and safe learning environments. We begin with norms (respect, empathy, confidentiality), create space for vulnerability, and incorporate emotional intelligence lessons into our content. Techniques include check-ins, SEL tools, restorative dialogue, and mindfulness.

Summary: The Rising Voices Leadership Program is an 8-week trauma-informed, empowerment-based program designed for marginalized, disenfranchised, and system-impacted individuals. The program includes leadership development, emotional intelligence training, community engagement, and a Congressional Leadership Capstone Trip to Washington, D.C.
